Rowe Ordination to the Diaconate
September 6, 2023 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
By the grace of God and the consent of the people, The Rt Revd Chip Edgar, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, will ordain David Andrew Rowe to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at Porter Gaud School in Charleston. A reception will follow. Clergy are to wear red stoles. View the invitation.
The service will be held in the auditorium of the school and guests will need to arrive via the Lower School entrance. Music will be led by Christal Heyward (The Healing Room) and the preacher will be Tre Sheppard (Causeway Coast Vineyard, Northern Ireland.)
David Rowe is the Lower School Chaplain at Porter-Gaud. His life pilgrimage began in Britain and has so far included a Biblical Studies BA (from the University of Sheffield), several years serving with Youth With A Mission (in Zimbabwe, England, and New Zealand), and writing a book called The Proverbs of Middle-earth about the wisdom and worldviews of JRR Tolkien’s invented peoples. Fortunate beyond words to marry into a Lebanese-American family in Charleston, he and his wife, Maria, have three children and five chickens. He graduated from Trinity School for Ministry this summer with an MDiv, and has led worship music for 25 years, including at St. Michael’s, Charleston; St. John’s Anglican, Johns Island; and Good Shepherd, West Ashley – where he has been on the staff team since 2019. He became a Christian on February 26, 1986, when he was four, and Jesus has never let him down.
