Family and Youth Leader for Saint James Anglican Church, James Island

The family and youth leader of the church is responsible for the overall Christian Youth Development and Leadership Program, engagement of community youth, and coordination with clergy, vestry, parents, and volunteers for all youth-related activities. Facilities Care and Maintenance Assistant – “Church Sexton”, Saint Michael’s Church, Charleston

Saint Michael’s Church is seeking a “people first, Christian servant leader” to fill the full-time position of Church Sexton.  This team-mate will work with the Church Property Manager to keep the church and parish buildings prepared for services and meetings.  To be successful in this position, the selected candidate must first have a heart for service, enjoy working with staff and volunteers, be comfortable with time sensitive assignments, accept schedule changes, have a willingness to be always helpful, and comfortable with their statement of faith. Typical duties include working with volunteers and staff to prepare the church, grounds, and facilities for weekday services, weekday events, weekend events, Sunday services, weddings, funerals, and caring for the Church’s historic property and artifacts.  Included in these activities are preparing church for services, setting-up and tearing down tables and chairs for events, helping to keep the facilities and church artifacts clean and orderly, and other assigned duties as required.  As a member of two-person team, rotating weekend duties are required.  The Sexton must be able to climb a ladder and lift 50lbs.  A full list of typical duties is attached.

This position includes full benefits, a starting hourly salary of $40,000 per year, room for advancement, and overtime.  Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and a 403b retirement plan with an employer match after the first year.

Musical Worship Director, Christ the King

Christ the King desires to appoint a musical worship director who will fulfill these duties. 1. To plan, prepare for, and lead musical worship on Sundays. Depending on personal versatility, this might involve leading worship at both services (8:30am traditional with piano or organ plus 10:45am contemporary) or it might entail leading worship at only the 10:45 service. This can be negotiated based on the gifts, skills, and desire of applicants. 2. To attend weekly staff meetings, currently on Tuesdays at 1:30 pm. 3. To be ready and able to identify, encourage, support and offer basic training for men, women and children who are gifted and open to involvement in musical worship. 4. To work with the pastors to creatively curate a rhythm of worship that corresponds to the Christian year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, etc.). 5.
