Middle School Chaplain(to begin immediately), Porter-Gaud School, Charleston

Porter-Gaud School is looking for a full-time, Middle School Chaplain during the 2024-2025 school year. The School would prefer and welcome an earlier start date based on candidate availability. The Middle School Chaplain leads chapel, teaches religion and philosophy courses, fosters spiritual development, and provides pastoral care for the Middle School community (grades 5 through 8). The School will consider ordained candidates, lay candidates currently pursuing ordination, and in some circumstances lay candidates not pursuing ordination. Porter-Gaud’s Chaplaincy team consists of the Head Chaplain / Upper School Chaplain, the Middle School Chaplain, and the Lower School Chaplain. Facilities Care and Maintenance Assistant – “Church Sexton”, Saint Michael’s Church, Charleston

Saint Michael’s Church is seeking a “people first, Christian servant leader” to fill the full-time position of Church Sexton.  This team-mate will work with the Church Property Manager to keep the church and parish buildings prepared for services and meetings.  To be successful in this position, the selected candidate must first have a heart for service, enjoy working with staff and volunteers, be comfortable with time sensitive assignments, accept schedule changes, have a willingness to be always helpful, and comfortable with their statement of faith. Typical duties include working with volunteers and staff to prepare the church, grounds, and facilities for weekday services, weekday events, weekend events, Sunday services, weddings, funerals, and caring for the Church’s historic property and artifacts.  Included in these activities are preparing church for services, setting-up and tearing down tables and chairs for events, helping to keep the facilities and church artifacts clean and orderly, and other assigned duties as required.  As a member of two-person team, rotating weekend duties are required.  The Sexton must be able to climb a ladder and lift 50lbs.  A full list of typical duties is attached.

This position includes full benefits, a starting hourly salary of $40,000 per year, room for advancement, and overtime.  Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and a 403b retirement plan with an employer match after the first year.

Holy Cross Sullivan’s Island is hiring music instructors for their music academy. Musicians of all instruments who would be interested in teaching private lessons and group classes in a Christian environment during after-school hours are encouraged to apply. Experience in teaching is a plus, but not necessarily required. Both classically trained and pop/rock-specialized instructors are needed. Instructors must be Christians involved in a local church. We will do our best to build up worship teams within Church of the Holy Cross and for other local churches, but instructors will be teaching across a variety of styles, both sacred and secular, based on the desired goals of the student.
