On Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 a.m. the Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence, Bishop of South Carolina, will ordain David Barr to the Sacred Order of Deacons in Christ’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church at The Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul in Charleston, South Carolina. A reception will follow. Clergy are asked to wear red stoles.

David grew up in Sumter, South Carolina and came into the faith at the Church of the Holy Comforter where his father, the Rev. Dr. John Barr III, was rector. He currently lives in Charleston with his wife, Caroline, and is Scholar in Residence at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul. David has a BA in theology and English literature from Covenant College, an MA in theology and ethics from the University of Virginia. He is finishing a PhD in theology from the University of Toronto.
