Virtual GrandCamp 2020: Learning to Pray

Child Praying

Welcome Grandparents!

Our GrandCamp Team is hard at work putting together a week of activities and devotions for you to share with your grandchildren. We hope to make this a user friendly process that will offer you five days of material  you can pick and choose from to fit your circumstances. We will have a suggested order and guide, but feel free to adapt it to make it work for you.

In addition to the Virtual GrandCamp Pages, during the week of June 15-19, we will send a daily email with the plans for the day. This is especially designed for those  planning to have the GrandCamp week as a daily opportunity to meet with your grandchildren either online or in person. We will provide you with a list of the items you’ll need for the object lessons and the craft activities to make sure you are ready for the week. If you will not be with your grandchildren in person, share the list with their parents to make sure they have them ahead of time. Many of the items are things most of us have at home already.

In the meantime, what can you do?

  • Think and pray about how you can talk to your grandchildren about your prayer life.
  • What do you want your grandchildren to know about prayer?
  • Where, when and how did you learn to pray?
  • Have you had any prayers answered?
  • Can you help your grandchildren experience the freedom of talking about God and to God so it becomes a part of their daily life wherever they are, whatever they are doing?
  • Consider how you can use the Lord’s prayer to teach your grandchildren about prayer.

Psalm 78: 3-4 says: “…things that we have heard and known that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wondrous deeds that he has done.”

We’re attaching a wonderful video from Irene Rose  we will use during our GrandCamp week, we encourage you to watch it now so you can learn the song and teach it to your Grandchildren so they can sing along too and then, as she does, end in the Lord’s Prayer.

Know that our team is holding you and your grandchildren in prayer as you embark on this grand adventure!

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” Deuteronomy 6: 5-7

Until next week, Grace and Peace to all,

Your GrandCamp Team
Peter, Sherry, Cathy, John, Patti and Cheryl
