In September 2021 Bishop Mark Lawrence appointed the Rev. Denman Isgett, Rector of St. Matthias’ Church, Summerton, as Dean of the Orangeburg Deanery. Fr. Denman has spent most of his life in the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, worshiping and serving within the Orangeburg and Florence Deaneries. A graduate of Clemson University (’95, B.S.; ’97 M.S.) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (’17, M.A.), Fr. Denman served at St. John’s Florence as a transitional deacon before being called by St. Matthias’ Church as Rector in 2017. Fr. Denman has served on Diocesan Council, and has been married to his wife Michelle for 23 years. They have two daughters- Hailey (19) who attends Clemson University, and Emily (16) who is the 11th grade. In response to the Bishop’s appointment Fr. Denman offered “The Orangeburg Deanery is a special group of which I have been blessed to be a part. I am incredibly humbled and excited to serve our Bishop, diocese, and deanery in this capacity.”
