The Very Rev. Ronald Greiser, the Rector of Church of the Resurrection, Surfside, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1960. Ron lived in the city with his parents and 3 younger sisters until the age of 10. The family moved south to Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Ron was attending Center School in Chattanooga and worshiping at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. During this season of life he was introduced to the Glory and Holiness of God the Father. During this time Ron's father answered his call to serve the priesthood as Ron was already feeling called to serve the Lord at 12 years old. (Ron ran away, denied, ran and ran from any possibility of serving God in the church for the next 16+ years).
The family moved to Sewanee, Tennessee where Ron attended St. Andrews and Sewanee Academy. Then moving to McMinnville, Tennessee he worshiped at St. Matthews. In 1979 Ron attended a Happening Weekend where he was introduced to the Holy Spirit and a cute girl, Sanna Porcher from Colonial Heights, Virginia. Ron graduated from Warren County Senior High and attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee to study Forestry. Realizing that trees don't converse, he gained in BS in Secondary Education while serving as a Varsity Cheerleader.
Sanna and Ron were married in 1984 and moved to West Palm Beach where he taught Honors Biology, Botany, and Zoology at Forest Hill High School, while coaching Cheerleading. In 1988, Ron and a gifted group of teenagers won the NCA National Championship and followed as runner ups in 1989. During this season Ron and Sanna were BLESSED with 2 beautiful boys, Trey and Chase. They worshiped and served at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
During this season of life Ron became aware that the death of Jesus was for his personal sins and not for the ambiguity of "Jesus died for the sins of the whole world". At this point the call on his heart became an insatiable desire to serve the living God, "To Know the power of Jesus' Name and to Show forth His Glory" and to assist others to know of the power and joy of Jesus.
Within 9 months while serving St. Ann's in Reston, VA, Ron attended Virginia Theological Seminary and graduated in 1993. Ron was blessed to be mentored by the Rev. Tom Jones while he served as Curate at Trinity Church in Columbus, GA. In 1999 Ron was called to serve as Rector of St. John's in Portsmouth, VA where he served with great joy until 2009. Currently Ron serves as the Rector (Lead Pastor) at the Church of the Resurrection in Surfside Beach.
Ron serves the wider community of the Grand Strand as a pastor, friend and fellow Servant of the Risen Savior. He and his best friend and wife, Sanna spend time riding their bikes with other crazy road bikers, loving their children Trey 27, and Chase 24, traveling and flat out loving the life that God has given them!
