The Rev. Canon Laura Bowman serves as the Assistant Rector at Church of the Holy Cross Sullivan’s Island and she also serves as the ADOSC Canon for Safe Churches. Laura was elected as a member of our diocesan delegation to Provincial Assembly in 2017 and 2019, and she recently assisted with our Diocesan Diaconal Training Program by providing instruction on Church Safety.
Laura was raised in Pennsylvania, where she lived and worked until 2002. That year, she and her husband relocated to SC after she retired from the Pennsylvania State Police with 20 years of service. She holds a B.S. Degree in Organizational Leadership from Penn State, and MDiv Degree from Trinity School for Ministry, Ambridge, PA. Laura’s husband, Tom, died in 2014 following a lengthy illness, and she has one stepson, Mike. In her free time, Laura can be found hanging out with her 9-yr-old rescue mutt, Bella, and she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time on the beach.
