Jim was born in Petersburg, Virginia and raised for the most part in West Tennessee in the little town of Humboldt. He received a BS in Natural Resource Management from the University of the South at Sewanee in 1981 and an MS in Forest Biology from Virginia Tech in 1984. After a time working for the Dow Chemical Company and the Dept. of Natural Resources in Virginia, he attended Seabury-Western Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, graduating in 1994. For the next ten years he served as the Rector of St. Jude's Episcopal Church in Walterboro, South Carolina. The final four of those years he also had the pleasure of serving as Dean of the Beaufort Deanery. In 2004, he accepted the call to become the Associate Rector at the Church of the Resurrection in Surfside Beach. Since May of 2009, he has served as the Canon to the Ordinary for the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina. He has been married to his wife Libby for 35 years and they have three children, Mary Elizabeth (28) and Will (25) and Anna Li (22) who was adopted from China. “As one who loves this Diocese, I have been blessed to work with Bishops Lawrence and Edgar while serving its people.
