Hamilton Smith grew up and was discipled in St. Paul's, Summerville. He was also active in the Diocese in his high school and college years. He practiced law for two years before receiving a call to ordained ministry. He was ordained in 2006. He served at Church of the Holy Comforter, Sumter, St. Michael's, Charleston, and is now the Rector at St. Thomas', Mt. Pleasant (a Church he planted in April 2013). He currently serves on Diocesan Council, Church Planting Advisory Team, and he served as Chaplain at Camp Jubilee. He is also a Doctor of Ministry Candidate at Trinity School for Ministry researching how best to evangelize his ministry area. He's been married to Lizzie since 2001, and they have a daughter, Charlotte (21), and son, David (17). (Ages as of 2023)
