Chet was ordained to the Vocational Diaconate in January 2024 by the Rt Revd Charles “Chip” Edgar and serves both the Parish Church of St. Helena’s and St. Jude’s Walterboro. Deacon Chet graduated from the University of Maryland, University College with a Bachelor’s Degree in management studies and holds a Master of Science degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Norwich University. He spent over 26 years in the United States Marine Corps before retiring in 2015. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Chet began a career with Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity as the Executive Director for the affiliate in Beaufort, South Carolina, until he accepted his current position working aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island in October of 2019. Chet is married to his high school sweetheart, Marcy (the Enchanting Mrs. Houston), and together they have three grown children. In his down time, Chet enjoys spending time flying as a private pilot, at the lake, being outdoors, or simply being around family. Thanks in part to multiple military moves (not-so-affectionately known as “orders”), Chet has served in about every layperson capacity for multiple parishes as well as one term on the Diocesan Council for the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina and the Diocesan Men’s Committee.
