Korey Kincaid Ordained a Transitional Deacon

Korey Kincaid Offers Communion

Several hundred people joined Bishop Mark Lawrence at St. Paul’s Summerville April 28, as he ordained Korey Kincaid into the transitional Diaconate. The Rev. Greg Smith, Rector of Trinity Church in Myrtle Beach, preached. Speaking from Jeremiah, he challenged Korey, and all those present, to confront the idols of this age with the peace of the Gospel. He urged listeners to consider God’s mission, His presence, and His message as they speak to those who have a need in their heart to hear the Good News. “Like the people of God to whom Jeremiah preached, we become like our idols,” said Smith.

“I am over-joyed, humbled, and proud to to be ordained into this historic Diocese, and to be a part of an incredible parish in St. Paul’s,” said Kincaid. “I am eternally grateful for the shoulders I stand on and for all of you that have been a part of my journey to ordination.  I pray that God will bless this time as a transitional Deacon as I learn what it means to be a servant-leader.”
