Jason Varnadore Ordained May 10

Jason Varnadore Ordained Transitional Deacon

Jason Varnadore who, for the last four months served as the lay pastor of St. David’s, Cheraw, was ordained to the transitional diaconate on Tuesday, May 10. Bishop David Bryan of the Diocese of the Carolinas and Bishop Chip Edgar both participated in the service, with Bishop Bryan preaching and ordaining and Bishop Edgar celebrating. “It was really special having those two particular bishops at my ordination,” said Jason. He was presented for ordination by St. David’s junior and senior wardens and the Rev. Preston Huntley, a retired priest who lives in Cheraw and is a part of the congregation. “It was really special that they were my presenters,” he said, “and that Jenna (my wife) put my stole on me. Though I’ve enjoyed serving these past four months as an unordained person, I think the ordination will give the congregation a sense of confidence, that this Diocese, our Diocese is behind us.”
