All are invited to the Institution of the Rev. Mary Ellen Doran as Rector of St. David’s, Cheraw and St. Paul’s, Bennettsville, on Wednesday, November 7 at 6 p.m. at St. David’s, Cheraw. Bishop Mark Lawrence will preside at the institution and the Rev. Arthur Jenkins will be the preacher. A reception will follow.

“We’re very excited,” said Doran, about her calling to the two churches. “We know this is where God has called us and are blessed to be here. We have been warmly welcomed.” Prior to her calling to the two churches, Doran served as an Assistant at Church of Our Saviour on Johns Island, and served for many years in lay ministry at Saint James Church on James Island.

Doran is the first full-time permanent rector for each church in several years. “Even with that fact, we are amazed how well both churches have been able to continue functioning, and caring for each other”. Keep Doran and her family as well as the parishioners of both churches in your prayers.
