Death of the Rev. Floyd Finch

The Rev. Floyd Finch

Please keep the family and loved ones of the Rev. Floyd Finch in your prayers. Floyd died on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Floyd was ordained to the priesthood in 1954 and served in the Diocese of North Carolina, the Diocese of Western North Carolina, the Diocese of Atlanta, and the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina until his retirement in 2013.

When Floyd retired from serving as the Chaplain to Retired Clergy and their Spouses in the Diocese, Bishop Lawrence wrote a letter to him which said, in part, “You and Leona have been an inexpressible blessing to this diocese in this important ministry since 2006.  I can only applaud the wisdom of your appointment to this ministry, thank my predecessor, and praise our Lord for how you both have carried it out with such joy, pastoral sensitivity and godly zeal.  It has been a remarkable witness and model for all of us.

“From the early days when you arranged deanery wide gatherings with the retired clergy and spouses in order for me to meet with them as their new bishop and they with me, having lunch, conversations and Q & A;  to the stellar mailings that kept us informed of the happenings in the lives of the Retired Treasures;  to singing phone calls on birthdays or anniversaries, (including mine),  how can I adequately express my gratitude for all you have done for so many and also to help me in this task…”

Floyd’s Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 in The Chapel at Bishop Gadsden, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world;
In the Name of God the Father Almighty who created you;
In the Name of Jesus Christ who redeemed you;
In the Name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you.
May your rest be this day in peace,
and your dwelling place in the Paradise of God.
