Rivers holds a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity School for Ministry and has the daily privilege of sharing the Gospel of Christ to students at Porter Gaud School as the Middle School Chaplain. In addition to teaching and pastoral care at the school\, Henrietta serves as an Intern at the Church of the Holy Cross\, Sullivan’s and Daniel Islands and also serves at St. John’s Chapel\, Charleston where her husband\, The Rev. Matthew Rivers\, is the Rector. Henrietta and Matthew have two adult children: Kariesha Richardson and Herbert Jordan Drayton. DESCRIPTION:Henrietta Rivers\, January 15 \nGod willing\, Henrietta Rivers will be ordained to the transitional diaconate at 3 p.m. on Saturday\, January 15\, by Bishop Mark Lawrence at St. John’s Chapel\, Charleston. \nHenrietta Rivers holds a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity School for Ministry and has the daily privilege of sharing the Gospel of Christ to students at Porter Gaud School as the Middle School Chaplain.  In addition to teaching and pastoral care at the school\, Henrietta serves at St. John’s Chapel\, Charleston where her husband\, The Rev. Matthew Rivers\, is the Rector. At St. John’s she is a Bible study teacher and women’s ministry leader\, as well as leader of the parish’s prayer and inner healing ministries. Henrietta’s greatest realization is that she is a vessel of Christ\, to be used as He desires. She says this takes the pressure off presenting the Word of God. “I’m not responsible for the Work of Scripture. My only job is to present the truth in its purest form; God does the rest.” Henrietta and Matthew have two children\, Kariesha\, 23\, and Herbert Jordan\, 25. DESCRIPTION:God willing\, on November 27\, 2018\, at 6:30 p.m. at Saint John’s Chapel\, 18 Hanover Street in Charleston\, SC\, the Rt. Rev. Mark Lawrence will ordain Matthew Rivers to the sacred order of priests. Clergy are to wear red stoles. There will be a luncheon reception following. \nMatthew was ordained to the transitional diaconate on May 29\, 2018 and serves as the Rector of St. John’s Chapel. He was born and raised in Charleston\, SC. He came to know Jesus Christ at the early age of 10 and began his walk with Christ then. Under the discipleship of the Rev. Dallas Wilson he discerned the call to ordained ministry. Matthew and Henrietta graduated from Trinity School for Ministry in 2018.

SUMMARY:Rivers Ordination
DESCRIPTION:Matthew Rivers will be ordained to the sacred order of deacons on Tuesday\, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John’s Chapel\, Charleston. \nMatthew\, a member of St. John’s Chapel\, first sensed a call on his life (based on Isaiah 6:8) when he was six years old. Under the discipleship of the Rev. Dr. Dallas H. Wilson\, that call – to be a Pastor and Priest – was confirmed\, and both Matthew and his wife Henrietta graduated from Trinity School for Ministry with MDiv degrees on May 12. They are returning to Charleston to serve at St. John’s Chapel\, where Matthew has been called as Vicar. Matthew asks that everyone pray for him and Henrietta that God will continue to bless them as they seek to fulfill the call of God on their lives.
