The Reverend Russell Reed is the Vicar of St. James Anglican-Blackville.

He has served on Diocesan Council previously. He attended seminary at St. Andrews Theological College and Seminary, Lexington, NC. Fr. Russell was ordained as a Deacon in 2008 and into the Priesthood in 2011 by the Most Revd Dr. Scott McLaughlin of the Orthodox Anglican Church. In 2012 he was received in to the Anglican Church of America by the Right Revd John Vaughan and then received into the Diocese of South Carolina in 2015 by the Right Revd Mark Lawrence. Fr. Russell established as a church plant St. James Anglican in Blackville in September of 2008, and the church was received into the Diocese of South Carolina as a mission parish in 2015.

He grew up in the Baptist Church, and comes from a long line of Baptist ministers. He was confirmed and received into the Episcopal Church at Christ Church in Greenville, SC. Then after having moved to Mt. Pleasant, he along with his wife Teresa were communicants at Holy Cross, Sullivan’s Island under the Very Revd John Burwell, until moving back to their hometown of Blackville in 2002. After having sensed a call to ministry for quite a long time, he subsequently surrendered to the call to ministry in 2006.

Prior to his ordination, he worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency Trauma and Critical Care and then worked as a Poison Information and Toxicology Specialist, retiring from the University of South Carolina College Of Pharmacy Palmetto Poison Center in March of 2022. He attended Greenville Technical College and Presbyterian College as well.

Fr. Russell is married to Teresa Ross Reed and they have 3 children: Collin (Shannon) Reed, who is currently attending Trinity School for Ministry, Whitney B. Reed, and John Martin Reed. Fr. Russell also has three grandchildren: Jackson Reed, Olivia Reed, and Abbott Reed.

Interests are camping, kayaking, football, history, Bluegrass and Celtic music.
