Not only has he ably led our diocese through difficult and trying times\, he has continued to keep before us his vision of “Making Biblical Anglicans for a Global Age”. His boundless energy has strengthened us and enabled us to flourish as a diocese. \nIt is customary to express our profound thanks for his ministry with a special monetary parting gift. As we approach his farewell celebration in February 2022\, it becomes timely for us to gather up a special “Bishops Purse” for Bishop Lawrence. We ask that gifts be sent to the Diocesan office to the attention of Nancy Armstrong\, or you may give online at www.adosc.org. All checks should be made payable to the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina and earmarked for this special purpose. \nIt is our intention that this be a true gift to Bishop Lawrence\, and not taxable income to him\, therefore contributions to this fund are not tax-deductible.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Give to Bishop’s Purse” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.shelbygiving.com%2FApp%2FForm%2Ff42e0b66-3f6a-4620-b80a-9cafac4cda19|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Clergy Renewal of Vows
DESCRIPTION:The clergy of the Diocese will renew their vows on Thursday\, May 2  at 11 a.m. at the Christ Church\, Mt. Pleasant. \nClergy are to wear white stoles. \nA Note to laity:  Though the service is primarily for the clergy\, it is open to the public and the laity are encouraged to attend. It’s a time to not only come alongside\, pray for and encourage our clergy in their callings\, but also a time to renew our own commitment to love\, follow and serve Christ. That Thursday happens to be the National Day of Prayer and represents the perfect occasion to be in prayer together (clergy and laity) in our celebration of the Easter season. \nClergy are invited to bring labeled bottles of oil for both Chrism and Unction for the blessing at the conclusion of the service. There will also be additional bottles\, available after the conclusion of the service\, for those who are unable or forget to bring their own. Box lunches are available for those clergy who reserve them. (Note: Though the service is open to all\, the lunch is for clergy only). \nBarring good cause and due notification of the bishop\, all clergy are expected to attend this service. \nClergy are to RSVP to Sara Ortiz at office@adosc.org.

SUMMARY:Art of Neighboring Mini-Conference
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Art of Neighboring\,  A Mini Conference with Dave Runyon Friday\, March 15 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon\, Saint James Church\, James Island\, Open to the Public. Register here. \nWhat if Jesus meant that we should love our actual neighbors? \nWhen Jesus was asked to sum up everything into one command\, he said to love God with everything we have and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Most of us have turned this simple idea of loving our neighbors into a nice saying\, putting it on bumper stickers and refrigerator magnets and then going on with our lives without actually putting it into practice. \nWhat would happen if every follower of Jesus took the Great Commandment literally? \nJoin us Friday\, March 15 at St. James\, James Island\, to hear Pastor Dave Runyon share his own testimony of how the idea of neighboring impacted his own walk with the Lord\, and re-doubled his efforts to share what the Lord put on his heart with church and community leaders all across the country. \nLet’s collectively have our hearts refreshed in the gospel and in Jesus’ commandment\, trusting him to start a movement that will change our own lives\, our neighborhoods and our diocese. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register Now.” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fpublic.serviceu.com%2FRegistrationForm%2F10395042-425263397%2F%3FOrgKey%3D562d9500-05a3-47c7-88a8-1c6e90c72687||target:%20_blank|”][vc_video link=”https://vimeo.com/318470627″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nWho is Dave Runyon?\nDave helps faith\, business\, and government leaders unite around common causes in the Denver metro area. He serves as the Executive Director of CityUnite and as a consultant for businesses who have a desire to make a positive impact in their communities. Dave helped to start a neighboring movement in 2010 that has now spread to over 3\,000 churches around the country. This experience prompted him to co-author The Art of Neighboring\, which was published by Baker Books. He speaks locally and nationally encouraging leaders to collaborate for the good of their cities. Before founding CityUnite\, Dave served as a pastor for 10 years at Foothills Community Church and The Next Level Church. He graduated from Colorado State University where he studied history\, economics\, and education. Tyler Prescott\, Associate Rector\, St. Paul’s\, Summerville \nWe live in one of the fastest growing regions in the US and\, yet\, most of the people moving here are not going to wake up and come to our churches on Sunday morning! If we hope to look outside the walls of our churches\, we need a full and deep understanding of both our congregation and our community. Join us in this workshop as we explore these themes and how MissionInsite\, new software provided by the Diocese\, can help cultivate strategically thinking\, community-focused churches in our rapidly changing ministry context. \nChurch Planting 101: Kingdom Mission: A Work of Heart\nPresenter: The Rt. Rev. TJ Johnston\, St. Peter’s Church\, Mt. Pleasant \nIn this break-out Bishop TJ Johnston will be exploring how the Holy Spirit shapes a heart and positions leadership for starting (or re-starting) a church. This will be a practical and encouraging conversation for all who are interested in how Jesus leads the Church into Kingdom-oriented mission. \nMatthew 25 Initiative\nPresenter: The Reverend Michael Wurschmidt\, Shepherd’s Heart Ministries\, Pittsburgh\, PA \nThe Matthew 25 Initiative started with a vision from Archbishop Foley Beach and his desire to use a generous grant from an anonymous donor to help churches reach the poor and needy in their communities. It is working. Since 2015\, the Matthew 25 Initiative has helped to fund 75 new projects and ministries in the ACNA Province. Who are your neighbors? How could your church show the love of Christ to those easily forgotten\, overlooked\, and passed-by? That’s what M25i is here for: to help kick-start those ministries. Pray. Dream. Plan. Apply. Come to this workshop\, and you will hear stories of hope and learn how you and your congregation can start a MT25 ministry. \nMen’s Ministry: The Irresistible Church\nPresenter: Jay Crouse\, Men’s Ministry Coordinator\, The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina \nWhat a difference 2000 years can make. Then\, 12 spirit-led men began sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and today there are 2.2 billion Christians. But\, the question is: where are those men today? Join Jay Crouse\, Coordinator for Men’s Ministry for the Diocese of South Carolina and author of Men and the Church: Is There a Future? to explore this real church challenge and the irresistible options to overcome this challenge. \n50 Great Days of Easter: Exploring the Glorious Hope of Heaven\nPresenter: The Rev. Dr. Kendall S. Harmon\, Canon Theologian\, Diocese of South Carolina \nThis class will examine biblical themes and passages\, drawing especially from the book of Revelation\, to paint some of the broad contours of the life of the world to come. The images are rich and varied\, and should serve to excite our imagination about where we will spend eternity\, about which Augustine said “There we shall rest and see\, see and love\, love and praise. This is what shall be in the end without end.” \nResolutions\nIf you have resolution(s) that you would like mailed out to the delegates prior to the Convention\, I must have them no later than February 1st\, 2018. We urge you to offer the Convention time to prayerfully consider any resolution that might be set forth\, and to observe this deadline. \nFurther Information\nIf you have questions contact the Convention Coordinator  Beth Snyder at (843) 722-4075 or bsnyder@adosc.org.
