SUMMARY:Cursillo 196
DESCRIPTION:The Cursillo weekend brings together a diverse group of Anglicans to share the richness of many modes of worship and to broaden each one’s appreciation for our Church. Lay people conduct the weekend with two or three members of the clergy functioning as spiritual advisors. Cursillo presumes that those who attend are already well grounded in the faith. It is not intended to be a conversion experience but an enriching and deepening of what is already there. It often provides new insights into our faith as well as fostering ministry among lay people. \nThe weekend begins Thursday evening with meditations\, discussions\, and Compline. Then blessed silence is kept until after the worship on Friday morning. After breakfast participants are assigned to table groups for the weekend. The three days are filled with talks and group discussions with emphasis on the doctrine of Grace\, the Sacraments\, and the great Cursillo tripod: Piety\, Study\, and Action. Plus there is fellowship\, singing\, good food\, and time for privacy\, meditation\, prayer\, and walks. Eucharist is celebrated each day.

SUMMARY:Clergy Spouse Retreat
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our Clergy Spouse Retreat will be held January 31-February 2 at the Litchfield Inn. Our speaker is the Rev. Lisa Wheeler. The retreat committee is excited about our time together and has been planning for several months.  Join us! Please let me know if you have questions! God’s peace to you in this season\, \nBeth Edgar\nbethedgar1117@gmail.com\n803-422-7233 \n\nOur Keynote Speaker: Lisa Wheeler\nLisa Wheeler serves as Associate to the Dean at Church of the Apostles in Columbia\, South Carolina\, where she was ordained to the diaconate in 2017. She holds an M.Div. from Beeson Divinity School and BFA (Painting) from Birmingham Southern College. While the settings of her service have varied by the decade\, from a co-Director of Christian Education\, to a season of volunteer ministry while staying at home with young children\, her call has been consistent: to share the consolations of God’s grace through faithful teaching of His Word and through the hospitality of listening. \nWhen she is not hidden beneath a pile of books\, Lisa can be found figure skating with her daughter\, a tenth grader; talking sports with her son\, a college freshman; or on a daily walk with husband Thomas\, discussing current events\, Roman history\, and the slim line between them. She has also taken up bouquet-cupcake decorating recently and will discuss personality theory with anyone who can stand it. \n\nThe deadline to register is December 31. Please register below for the retreat. For lodging\, connect with the Litchfield Inn directly at 888-734-8228 to reserve and pay for your room. Be sure to reference ANGLICAN DIOCESE OF SC CLERGY SPOUSES ’25. The charge for rooms is $135.17 per night. If you wish to have breakfast\, it will be charged to the card on file for your room. If you need a roommate\, please let me (Beth Edgar) know. If you have a roommate\, only one of you needs to reserve the hotel room. \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register now.” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.shelbygiving.com%2FApp%2FForm%2F5fcd6529-d7e5-4beb-b9db-54b9fd5f8c6a|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Consecration of The Parish Church at Habersham
DESCRIPTION:The rector\, wardens and vestry of the Parish Church at Habersham invite the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina and its clergy to attend the Consecration Service of their New Church Building at 100 North Market\, Beaufort South Carolina on Thursday\, January 23\, 2025 at 5 p.m. A reception will follow. Clergy are to wear green stoles. \nRead a message from the Rector of The Parish Church: \nDear friends and neighbors\, \nI want you to know how special the upcoming consecration of the church building is\, and how much we want everyone to be there to join in the celebration. You may not have any experience with that term or what a consecration even is. To be fair\, even clergy have very little personal experience with it. They are rare. The last time a church building was consecrated in our Diocese\, ADoSC\, was back in 2006. In Beaufort\, the last Anglican Church that was consecrated was St. Helena’s in 1720! \nThe Bishop will return to us and will ask the Holy Spirit to: “Be present with us who now come with humility and gratitude to consecrate this place to the honor of your great Name. We dedicate it to the work of your kingdom\, separating it from all profane use: for reading your most holy Word\, for celebrating your Sacraments\, for offering to your glorious majesty the sacrifice of prayer and thanksgiving\, for the blessing of your people and for the mission of your Church.” (2019 Book of Common Prayer page 252). \nThe Bishop will pray blessings over the doors\, the altar table\, the lectern\, the vestments\, and everything we use to worship God in our services. The service will then follow our normal Sunday morning liturgy for Communion. During the service we will also tell the story of how the church came to be and say thank you to the great many people who have helped us get to this tremendous milestone in our common life. \nSo\, we want to invite anyone who would want to join in a celebration of gratitude for all that God has done and who want to see what God will do next. I hope our whole congregation\, our neighbors\, and people from other churches will all join us on Thursday January 23rd at 5pm and stay for the reception to follow in the pavilion. Please help me spread the word! \nGodspeed to the Parish Church\,\nJamie Sosnowski \nDownload the invitation.

After the fire\, everyone will head into Flat Rock to dinner for “BBQ with Bryan & the Bishop.” Please note that dinner will be Dutch Treat. \nReserving and paying for a room for Sunday night will be each person’s responsibility\, and Bonclarken will work with us so that early arrivals will be placed into the rooms that we will have already assigned for Monday and Tuesday. Contact Amanda Carnley at amanda@bonclarken.org to reserve your room (for Sunday night only). Be sure to identify yourself as ADOSC Clergy. Breakfast and lunch on Monday will be on your own around Flat Rock\, as the dining room won’t serve until dinnertime Monday. \nPlease clear your calendars and join the fun and fellowship! \n  \nLearn more.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register here.” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.shelbygiving.com%2FApp%2FForm%2Fd41591b5-ee53-4cf1-9fff-8fc741027a3d|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Communicators' Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Do you enjoy taking photographs of church events. Join with ADOSC Communicators and church photographers from around the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina for a  hands-on workshop from 10-2 p.m. on October 24\, 2024 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Summerville. The event is being hosted by the ADOSC Communications Department with the goal of equipping church communicators and photographers to take compelling photos for use in parish communications. \nQuality photographs which capture the life of a parish–from big events like confirmation to simple interactions during times of fellowship–can transform church communications. Through photography\, communicators can convey real human connection\, sincere moments of worship\, joy\, celebration\, and so much more. \nHear from expert Wade Spees\, a photographer for The Post and Courier for nearly 39 years\, participate in a mini shoot around the campus of St. Paul’s Anglican Church\, share your photos\, discuss editing styles\, and receive feedback. Lunch will be provided. \nPlease contact Joy Hunter with any questions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”Register Now” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.shelbygiving.com%2FApp%2FForm%2F3bb9390e-932c-481f-b15d-031c52b95a40|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
