The theme for the day is “Shepherd Me\, O God\,” based on Psalm 23. Our speaker is Sherry Schumann. \nAbout our Speaker:  \nSherry Schumann is the president of Christian Grandparenting Network\, a charter member of Legacy Coalition\, and serves on the Southeast GrandCamp staff. She has written two books\, Prayers that Stir the Hearts of Grandparents and The Christmas Bracelet. Sherry’s life in rural South Carolina is simple and beautiful. She has been married to her soul mate for almost four decades. They are blessed with three grown sons\, three daughters-in-law and seven adorable grandchildren. Sherry’s heart rejoices whenever her home echoes with the sounds of their grandchildren’s voices. She and her husband\, Sammy\, are members of St. Paul’s\, Summerville. \nRead a special message about this gathering from our President\, Sunny Walker. \n  \nRegistration will begin at 8:30 a.m.  with our welcome and housekeeping to begin at 9 a.m.  Our time together will include\, worship\, teaching\, opportunities for small group discussion\, lunch and workshops. Married seven years\, the Varnadores have one daughter\, River (4) and son\, Jonas (1). Jason says he\, “really looks forward to bonding with the other clergy in his deanery and this diocese and growing closer to and serving the people of St. David’s.”

DESCRIPTION:Doran Institution at Trinity Church\, June 1\nThe Rev. Mary Ellen Doran will be Instituted as the Rector of Trinity Church\, Pinopolis\, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday\, June 1\, 2022. \nDoran received her BA in Religion from Charleston Southern University\, and her Masters of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge PA.   St. James Church\, Charleston\, was her sending church to seminary\, and she was ordained a Transitional Deacon there. Next she served as the Assistant Pastor at Church of Our Saviour on Johns Island\, where she was ordained to the Priesthood.  Following Church of Our Saviour\, she was called to be the Rector of St. David’s Cheraw and St. Paul’s Bennettsville\, along with overseeing St. David’s Day School.  In January 2021\, the two churches were able to un-yoke\, and Doran continued solely at St. David’s. \n“My husband Keith and I are excited to be able to call Trinity Church our new home\,” said Mary Ellen.  The Doran’s live in the Cane Bay area and have two adult daughters.   Amanda\, a Middle school teacher\, is married to our son-in-law Jason\, who is a retiring pilot from the Air Force.   They have two daughters: Reagan and Kinley.  Our other daughter\, Madalaine\, is a Mental Health Therapist in Greenville.

SUMMARY:Beach Day at St. Christopher
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina’s final day of running St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center is October 1\, 2022. In light of that\, we are having a Diocesan Beach Day to celebrate and give thanks for all God has done in our midst in this place. \nDiocesan Beach Day at St. Christopher\nSaturday September 10\, 2022\nBeginning at 10 a.m.\nEucharist at 4 p.m. \nAll are invited to a St. Christopher Beach Day on Saturday\, September 10 starting at 10:00 am. \nPlease join us for fellowship and fun with camp friends old and new. \nOur day will conclude with a Eucharist at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of the Palms. \nPlease bring beach chairs and a picnic lunch for your family to enjoy on the beach. \nWe look forward to seeing everyone as we celebrate together the years of faithful ministry at this place which has meant so much to our diocese. Our day will close as we gather for music and worship in the Chapel of the Palms. SUMMARY:Henrietta Rivers' Ordination to the Priesthood
DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Henrietta Rivers will be ordained to the Priesthood on Tuesday\, September 13 at 6 pm. By Bishop Chip Edgar at St. John’s Chapel\, Charleston. Rivers holds a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity School for Ministry and has the daily privilege of sharing the Gospel of Christ to students at Porter Gaud School as the Middle School Chaplain. In addition to teaching and pastoral care at the school\, Henrietta serves as an Intern at the Church of the Holy Cross\, Sullivan’s and Daniel Islands and also serves at St. John’s Chapel\, Charleston where her husband\, The Rev. Matthew Rivers\, is the Rector. Henrietta and Matthew have two adult children: Kariesha Richardson and Herbert Jordan Drayton. She serves on the board of the Anglican Women of South Carolina\, and served on the Bishop’s Search Committee for the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina. View the invitation.

This will be a one-day event\, with a registration fee of $25\, which includes lunch. Registration begins at 9:15; the meeting will begin at 10 and end by 2.  The Rev’d Dr. Sandi Kerner (Chaplain and Prayer Director at St Christopher Camp & Conference Center) has accepted the invitation to teach at the gathering. Consequently\, we are canceling our 2022 Men’s Summit scheduled for this Saturday at St. Paul’s\, Summerville. Laura Beth Bowman to the Sacred Order of Priests on Sunday\, November 6 at 3:30 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross on Sullivan’s Island. A reception will follow. Clergy are asked to wear red stoles. \nLaura came to the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina when she moved to North Myrtle Beach and joined Grace Parish (in Little River) following her retirement from the Pennsylvania State Police. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Penn State University\, and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Trinity School for Ministry\, Ambridge\, PA. Over the past year\, Laura has served as a transitional deacon at Church of the Holy Cross\, Sullivan’s Island. Following her ordination to the priesthood\, Laura will remain on staff at Holy Cross and will serve as the Assistant Rector. In her spare time\, Laura volunteers as a Crisis Chaplain with Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy\, which provides emergency services for Charleston\, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties. \nView the invitation.

Registration information and more details will be coming soon. Scholarships will be available. \nAbout Our Speaker\, The Rev. Dr. John W. Yates\, III\nJohn W. Yates III is the rector of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Raleigh\, NC\, where he has served since 2010. Having grown up in northern Virginia\, he attended the University of Virginia before moving to London\, England\, where he served as study assistant to the well-known Anglican theologian\, John Stott. John went on to earn an MA in Theology from King’s College\, London\, an MDiv. from Trinity School for Ministry\, Ambridge\, PA\, and a PhD in New Testament from Cambridge University\, England. John is in his 20th year of ordained ministry\, having served in the Chapel at Clare College\, Cambridge\, and at Church of the Good Samaritan\, Paoli\, PA\, prior to becoming rector at Holy Trinity. John has been married to Alysia for 22 years and they have four teenage children: Sylvia\, Isabel\, Jack and Alexander. He enjoys reading\, writing\, cycling and taking his kids to estate sales or antique shops in search of treasure. He intensely dislikes board games\, which the rest of his family views as a moral deficiency. \nRegistration information will be posted soon.
