Tyler Prescott\, Associate Rector\, St. Paul’s\, Summerville \nWe live in one of the fastest growing regions in the US and\, yet\, most of the people moving here are not going to wake up and come to our churches on Sunday morning! If we hope to look outside the walls of our churches\, we need a full and deep understanding of both our congregation and our community. Join us in this workshop as we explore these themes and how MissionInsite\, new software provided by the Diocese\, can help cultivate strategically thinking\, community-focused churches in our rapidly changing ministry context. \nChurch Planting 101: Kingdom Mission: A Work of Heart\nPresenter: The Rt. Rev. TJ Johnston\, St. Peter’s Church\, Mt. Pleasant \nIn this break-out Bishop TJ Johnston will be exploring how the Holy Spirit shapes a heart and positions leadership for starting (or re-starting) a church. This will be a practical and encouraging conversation for all who are interested in how Jesus leads the Church into Kingdom-oriented mission. \nMatthew 25 Initiative\nPresenter: The Reverend Michael Wurschmidt\, Shepherd’s Heart Ministries\, Pittsburgh\, PA \nThe Matthew 25 Initiative started with a vision from Archbishop Foley Beach and his desire to use a generous grant from an anonymous donor to help churches reach the poor and needy in their communities. It is working. Since 2015\, the Matthew 25 Initiative has helped to fund 75 new projects and ministries in the ACNA Province. Who are your neighbors? How could your church show the love of Christ to those easily forgotten\, overlooked\, and passed-by? That’s what M25i is here for: to help kick-start those ministries. Pray. Dream. Plan. Apply. Come to this workshop\, and you will hear stories of hope and learn how you and your congregation can start a MT25 ministry. \nMen’s Ministry: The Irresistible Church\nPresenter: Jay Crouse\, Men’s Ministry Coordinator\, The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina \nWhat a difference 2000 years can make. Then\, 12 spirit-led men began sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and today there are 2.2 billion Christians. But\, the question is: where are those men today? Join Jay Crouse\, Coordinator for Men’s Ministry for the Diocese of South Carolina and author of Men and the Church: Is There a Future? to explore this real church challenge and the irresistible options to overcome this challenge. \n50 Great Days of Easter: Exploring the Glorious Hope of Heaven\nPresenter: The Rev. Dr. Kendall S. Harmon\, Canon Theologian\, Diocese of South Carolina \nThis class will examine biblical themes and passages\, drawing especially from the book of Revelation\, to paint some of the broad contours of the life of the world to come. The images are rich and varied\, and should serve to excite our imagination about where we will spend eternity\, about which Augustine said “There we shall rest and see\, see and love\, love and praise. This is what shall be in the end without end.” \nResolutions\nIf you have resolution(s) that you would like mailed out to the delegates prior to the Convention\, I must have them no later than February 1st\, 2018. We urge you to offer the Convention time to prayerfully consider any resolution that might be set forth\, and to observe this deadline. \nFurther Information\nIf you have questions contact the Convention Coordinator  Beth Snyder at (843) 722-4075 or bsnyder@adosc.org.

SUMMARY:OSA Tea Room & Gift Shop
DESCRIPTION:The 65th annual Tea Room and Gift Shop sponsored by St. Andrew’s Parish Church (Old St. Andrew’s) will be held March 12 -March 24\, 2018. Lunch is served Monday – Saturday from 11:00am to 1:30pm and features Lowcountry favorites from time honored recipes. \nThe Tea Room menu includes she-crab soup\, okra soup\, chicken salad and shrimp paste sandwiches\, salads and homemade desserts. The Gift Shop features handmade craft and food items. Church tours are offered each day. \nProceeds from the Tea Room and Gift Shop support the mission\, outreach and parish programs of The Church Women of Old St. Andrew’s. \nReservations for groups of 6 or more are encouraged and can be made by contacting the church office at 843-766-1541 or office@oldstandrews.org. \n### \n\nBackground: St. Andrew’s Parish Church was established and built in 1706. After rice and indigo brought immense wealth in colonial days\, the parish suffered through the nineteenth century. After the death of the Reverend John Grimké Drayton in 1891\, the church was dormant for the next 57 years. After it reopened in 1948\, the ladies of the church often spent all day cleaning and preparing the church for worship services. Since there were no restaurants nearby\, they often brought their lunch and found themselves sharing it with tourists who stopped in to see the church on their way to the Ashley River plantations. This simple act evolved into the much-anticipated Annual Tea Room and Gift Shop. The church history is detailed in a new book by Paul Porwoll – Against All Odds: History of Saint Andrew’s Parish Church\, Charleston\, 1706-2013.

SUMMARY:US Supreme Court Conference
DESCRIPTION:The United States Supreme Court has announced that our Petition for Certiorari has been distributed for Conference on Thursday\, June 7.\nhttps://www.supremecourt.gov/docket/docketfiles/html/public/17-1136.html \nAs anticipated\, the Eden Prairie case (which involves the same legal issues as our own case) has also been docketed for Conference that day.\nhttps://www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx?filename=/docket/docketfiles/html/public/17-582.html \nBoth cases raise the question of how courts interpret the Jones v. Wolf (1979) decision and its guidance on “neutral principles of law”.  In Conference\, the Justices will be discussing if these are cases they wish to review to resolve the conflicting interpretations. \nThe consequence is that we could hear as early as Monday\, June 11th what the Court’s decision is regarding our Petition for Certiorari.  If granted\, our case would then be heard some time in the next session of the court\, which begins this fall. \nPlease encourage your congregation to keep the Court’s deliberations that day in their prayers.
